LNPX Liquid Nitrogen Pump Support
This section provides answers and solutions to common LNP controller questions.
Liquids safe for use in a Linkam LNP
The ONLY substance that is safe to use with a Linkam LNP is liquid nitrogen. Pumping any other substance with the LNP is extremely likely to result in irreparable damage to the pumps.
LNP95/LNP96 is extremely noisy
If the LNP makes a very loud noise when pumping, it is possible that the transit screws have not been removed from the transit position.
The LNP is shipped with 4 screws in the base of the unit to hold the vacuum pumps in place during shipping to prevent damage to the unit. If these screws are not removed before use, the pumps effectively have no vibration damping and the system will be extremely noisy. Remove the four screws from the base of the unit and store them in the holes on the back panel of the LNP, as shown below:
Make sure to replace the transit screws in the base of the unit before shipping the LNP.
Is my LNP compatible with a new controller?
Linkam LNPs (liquid nitrogen pumps) are only compatible with a temperature controller from their own series.
This means that an LNP96 will only work with a T96, and an LNP95 will only work with a T95. There is no backward or forward compatibility with this system.
Existing liquid nitrogen Dewars and syphon assemblies are however fully backward and forward compatible - there should be no need to change these when changing your controller model.
Liquid Nitrogen Pump not working
The LNP must be powered on before the T9X controller, or it will not be detected and will not work.
If the LNP speed field is not displayed in the LINK software or on the LinkPad touch screen control, this means that the controller has not detected the LNP. Check that the LNP was powered on before the T9X and make sure that the connecting cable between the LNP and T9X controller is secure.
